Quilpie Shire

From swimming to natural wonders and unique flora and fauna, Quilpie is sure to entertain the whole family!

Discover a place like no other

The Quilpie Shire is an outback experience the whole family can enjoy. Quilpie is full of fun experiences and unique activities you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

So, when you visit, make sure your first stop is the Quilpie Visitor Information Centre. The centre is located on the main street of the town and showcases everything you need to know about this region.

The best thing about Quilpie is that you don’t have to travel too far to uncover new experiences. Perfect for families who want an action-packed day full of fun and activities.

If you are traveling with your kids, we recommend visiting the free Opal Fossicking Area. This council provided area is only situated two kilometres west of Quilpie. From there, make sure you stop by the Eromanga Natural History Museum. This museum showcases internationally-significant fossil discoveries, including “Cooper”, Australia’s largest dinosaur.

Finally, conclude your afternoon with a trip to the Baldy Top Lookout. You’ll be amazed by the breathtaking panoramic landscapes. Hopefully, you’ll begin to understand why Outback Queensland is known for their amazing sunsets.
