Bulloo River Hotel Motel
The Bulloo River Hotel Motel is situated in the heart of Thargomindah. Located only a short walking distance of all the facilities that the town has to offer. The Motel offers modern air-conditioned en-suite Motel rooms, many of which are accessible to wheelchairs. The Oasis Motel and Licenced Restaurant offer modern air-conditioned en-suite Motel rooms. All rooms have a TV and DVD, a fridge, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. The Oasis has ample off-street parking and is just a short walk from the Bulloo River. Explorers Caravan Park
The Explorers Caravan Park is a purpose-built Caravan and Holiday Park with all the ‘mod-cons’ of home set in the middle of Australia’s Outback! The Park is only 100 metres from the heart of Thargomindah Township and 50 metres from the banks of the Bulloo River.
The Explorers Caravan Holiday Park offers accommodation for either Caravanners or Campers. It also offers modern en-suite Cabins and Bunkhouse style accommodation with wheelchair access. Powered sites are set amongst rows of native shrubs and trees, whilst unpowered sites are in a typical Outback setting, with fixed fireplaces. The Park is an AAA-rated 4 Star Park offering a well equipped Camp Kitchen with Gas and Electric BBQ’s. It boasts a modern Amenities Block and numerous quiet Van, Tent, and Campsites. The Park is also rated as “Environmentally Friendly” and “Pet Friendly” with a “Green Star” rating. Please note that “Pet Friendly” applies to caravan and campsites only.

Southern Cross Caravan Park
The Southern Cross Caravan Park is located in Hungerford and is within a short driving distance of the Currawinya National Park. The Park caters for Caravans, Campers, and Coaches with powered and unpowered sites available. A Shower and Toilet Block together with Laundry Facilities are located on-site. Camp Fire sites and firewood are also provided for travellers free of charge.
The Southern Cross Caravan Park is maintained by the Bulloo Shire Council. The Caretaker is generally in attendance in the town of Hungerford between 7.30 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Thursday. If the Caretaker is unavailable, or visitors leave outside the designated hours, they are requested to deposit fees in the Honesty Box provided at the site. If change is required, it can be obtained from the Royal Mail Hotel in the main street of Hungerford. Meals, fuel, and postal facilities are also available at the Royal Mail.
Royal Mail Hotel
The Royal Mail Hotel is located in the main street of Hungerford on the Dowling Track and is within short driving distance of the Currawinya National Park. The Pub stands near the Queensland/New South Wales border adjacent to a large gate in the rabbit-proof Dog/Dingo Barrier Fence, which allows access between the States. Accommodation is available at the Royal Mail in a number of rooms, including a single, twin and a family room plus a Bunkhouse, which accommodates 18 people. There are Shower and Toilet Blocks, and Laundry Facilities on the grounds of the Hotel for guests.
Currawinya National Park
Visitors can bush camp at Ourimperee Waterhole behind the Currawinya Woolshed or at several sites on the Paroo River near Caiwarro. Alternatively, bush camp at Myninya. For more information visit Parks & Wildlife.
Kilcowera Station Stay
Kilcowera Station is a large organically run Cattle Station, one hour drive (90 kms) south of Thargomindah. The Thargomindah – Hungerford Road is mostly gravel but well maintained. It’s usually accessible by a conventional vehicle as well as 4WD. However, some of the station tracks require a high clearance vehicle.
Private and remote, but still civilised, Kilcowera is a great destination for a week away or as a stopover on your journey through Outback Queensland. Kilcowera is open to visitors from 1st March through to 31st October. If you are looking to visit outside these time, please call ahead.
Your Outback accommodation is provided in spacious Shearers Quarters. It’s an ideal venue for large groups travelling together. Full catering is available if required with bookings made in advance or guests can self cater.
Historical Noccundra Hotel
The Noccundra Hotel is owned by Nockatunga Station. Today it serves as a meeting place for locals, families, stockmen, and travellers alike, all of whom enjoy the unsophisticated atmosphere of this remote and isolated Pub. The Hotel is a popular rest stop or overnight stay for visitors driving to the “Dig Tree”, Innamincka, Cameron Corner, Thargomindah, and all points in between.
Hotel accommodation is provided in Dongas (demountable buildings), with double rooms, twin rooms, and single rooms available. A small number of powered sites are available beside the hotel. There are plenty of free unpowered bushsites available along the waterhole adjacent to the Hotel for campers. Tent and swag camping is also permitted on the lawns of the Hotel grounds. Communal showers and toilets are provided near the Dongas for guests. Public Toilet facilities are also provided opposite the Hotel.
